Person Types in Import
Mapping Person Types
When importing, you can include a Person Type column:
Name,Email,Person Type
John Smith,[email protected],Customer
Jane Doe,[email protected],Vendor
Bob Wilson,[email protected],Partner
Sue Brown,[email protected],Employee
Valid Type Values
Map to your configured person types:
| Import Value | Maps To |
|---|---|
| Customer, Client | Customer |
| Vendor, Supplier | Vendor |
| Partner | Partner |
| Employee, Staff | Employee |
| Other | Other |
If a person type value doesn't match, the record imports with the default type.
Handling Duplicates
Detection
Coherence checks for duplicates by:
- Email match - Same email address
- Name + Account - Same name at same company
- Phone match - Same phone number
Options
When duplicates are found:
| Option | Result |
|---|---|
| Skip | Don't import duplicate records |
| Update | Merge new data into existing record |
| Create Anyway | Import as new (creates duplicates) |
We recommend "Update" for most imports to keep your data clean.
