Creating Reminders

Learn different ways to create reminders in Coherence

Creating Reminders

There are several ways to create reminders, from quick one-click actions to detailed configuration.

Quick Remind Button

The fastest way to set a reminder. Click the clock icon on any record to open the quick reminder menu.

Smart Presets

The menu shows intelligent time presets that adapt to the current time:

PresetWhen it appearsDefault time
Later todayBefore 4pm6:00 PM
TomorrowAlways8:00 AM
Later this weekMon-WedThursday 8:00 AM
This weekendMon-FriSaturday 9:00 AM
Next weekAlwaysMonday 8:00 AM

Pick Date & Time

For a specific moment, select "Pick date & time" to choose:

  • Any date in the future
  • Any time you prefer

Use natural language! Type "next friday at 2pm" or "in 3 hours" and Coherence will understand.

Full Reminder Modal

For more control, use the full reminder modal. Access it by:

  1. Clicking "Set reminder" in the quick menu
  2. Using keyboard shortcut R on a record
  3. Right-click → Set Reminder

Configuration Options

Title

Customize what the reminder says. By default, it uses the record's display name with "Follow up:" prefix.

"Follow up: Acme Corp proposal"
"Call back John Smith"
"Review Q1 numbers"

Notes

Add context you'll need when the reminder fires:

"Ask about the budget increase"
"Check if invoice was paid"

When to Remind

Specific Time

Pick an exact date and time:

  • Use the date picker
  • Type natural language ("tomorrow 9am", "next Monday")
  • Select from presets

Relative to Field

Link the reminder to a date field on the record:

  1. Choose the source field (e.g., Due Date, Meeting Time)
  2. Set the offset (e.g., 1 day before, 2 hours before)

The reminder automatically updates if the field value changes!

Recurring

Set up reminders that repeat:

PatternExample
DailyEvery day at 9am
WeeklyEvery Monday at 10am
MonthlyFirst of each month
CustomEvery 2 weeks on Friday

You can optionally set an end date for recurring reminders.

Notification Channels

Choose how you want to be notified:

  • In-app - Shows in the notification bell (always enabled)
  • Email - Sends an email reminder
  • Push - Browser push notification (requires permission)

From List Views

Hover over any record in a list view to see the reminder quick action. Click the clock icon to open the quick reminder menu right where you clicked.

Best Practices

Be Specific with Titles

Instead of the default, add context:

  • ✅ "Follow up on contract terms"
  • ✅ "Check if proposal was reviewed"
  • ❌ "Follow up: Record #1234"

Use Relative Reminders for Deadlines

If a record has a due date, use relative reminders. They'll automatically adjust if the deadline moves.

Don't Over-Remind

Too many reminders can lead to "reminder fatigue." Focus on truly important follow-ups.

Add Notes for Context

Future you will thank present you. Add notes explaining why this reminder matters:

Notes: "They said they'd have budget approval by this date.
If no response, escalate to their manager."
