An AI assistant that can summarize a contact record is convenient. An agent that can inspect the right context, choose an approved tool, and leave useful work behind is a different product entirely.
That difference gets blurred in AI CRM comparisons. A writing feature, a predictive score, and an agent that researches a market may all appear under the same “AI” heading. The harder buying question is not which CRM mentions agents most often. It is what the agent can see, what it can change, how its work can be checked, and what the first useful workflow will cost.
We reviewed the current first-party product, help, and pricing pages for five different approaches. Coherence is included because this is our category, but it is not the right choice for every team.
Our Take
- Coherence is the best fit for a small team that wants CRM agents connected to custom records, tasks, documents, Sites, team Chat, and source-linked public-web research.
- HubSpot is strongest for established marketing, sales, service, and content workflows that can use Breeze assistants, agents, and HubSpot's customer data.
- Attio is the best data-first modern CRM in this group, with Ask Attio, AI attributes, enrichment, and a flexible relationship model.
- Salesforce is strongest when enterprise CRM depth, governance, Data Cloud, Slack, and a broad Agentforce platform justify the setup and cost.
- Zoho CRM is a strong value suite for sales teams that want Zia predictions, recommendations, automation, and configurable agents inside a mature CRM.
Coherence's advantage is not unlimited autonomy. Its advantage is the amount of related small-team work an agent can keep in one operating context. Coherence agents do not currently autonomously read or send email.
AI CRM Tools Compared
| Product | Agent starting point | Strongest context | Best fit | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coherence | Copilot, configurable agents, and research | CRM, custom modules, tasks, docs, Sites, Chat, and public web | Small teams unifying relationships and operations | Newer ecosystem; shared AI limits; no autonomous agent email |
| HubSpot Breeze | Assistant, specialized agents, and Studio | Marketing, sales, service, content, CRM, and knowledge | Revenue teams already operating in HubSpot | Capabilities can depend on hubs, seats, beta access, and credits |
| Attio | Ask Attio, AI attributes, enrichment, and MCP | Flexible CRM objects, lists, records, and workflows | Data-first startups and modern revenue teams | Surrounding project, website, and collaboration work usually stays elsewhere |
| Salesforce Agentforce | Enterprise agent platform and Slack experiences | Salesforce data, automation, industry clouds, and Slack | Complex organizations with governance and customization needs | Licensing, implementation, and usage economics require careful modeling |
| Zoho Zia | AI assistant, predictions, recommendations, and agents | Zoho CRM and the wider Zoho suite | Value-conscious sales and operations teams | Capability depth and availability vary substantially by edition |
Features and limits change quickly. Verify the specific edition, credit model, data permissions, and action before treating any row as an implementation promise.
1. Coherence: Best for Agents Across a Small-Team Operating Workspace
Coherence is designed around relationships, but the agent's context can extend beyond a conventional sales record. People, accounts, deals, custom modules, tasks, documents, team conversations, Sites, and public-web research can remain connected in one workspace.
That changes a representative workflow. A user can ask for a narrowly defined group of companies, inspect the public evidence, carry eligible information into CRM records, discuss the result with people and agents in Chat, and turn the next step into a task or document. The value is the continuity between those steps—not merely the generated answer.
Coherence Free supports up to three users, 2,500 records, and 50 shared AI credits per month. It is a useful way to test a real team workflow, although research depth and regular agent use can create an earlier upgrade than the seat limit.
Choose Coherence when: the CRM is becoming the center of projects, custom operations, research, publishing, and collaboration—not only a sales pipeline.
Look elsewhere when: you need a large private contact database, autonomous multichannel outreach, advanced enterprise administration, or an integration that is not currently supported.
2. HubSpot Breeze: Best for a Broad Customer Platform
HubSpot describes Breeze as an AI layer spanning assistants, specialized agents, custom assistants, tools, knowledge, and reporting. Its current product pages include a prospecting agent, customer agent, data agent, and a company research agent in beta.
HubSpot's strength is breadth around the customer lifecycle. If marketing forms, campaigns, sales activity, service conversations, content, and customer data already live in HubSpot, an agent can work against a rich and familiar operating environment.
The purchase still needs a feature-by-feature plan check. HubSpot notes that some Breeze capabilities require credits, particular seats, additional subscriptions, or beta enrollment. Its current pricing page shows free tools for up to two users and a credit model for several agentic features.
HubSpot is a better fit than Coherence when mature inbound marketing, service, content operations, and ecosystem breadth are the priority. Coherence is more compelling when a smaller team wants custom operational records, documents, projects, Sites, research, and Chat connected without assembling multiple hubs.
3. Attio: Best Data-First AI CRM
Attio AI includes Ask Attio, AI attributes, and an MCP connection for external agents. Its flexible object and relationship model makes it attractive to teams that care deeply about how CRM data is structured.
The current Attio pricing page lists up to three seats on Free, automatic data enrichment, and both seat and workspace credits. Paid plans expand objects, seats, reporting, sequences, and permissions.
Attio should be near the top of a shortlist for a startup that wants a polished, modern CRM database with strong AI assistance. Coherence should move ahead when the same team wants its website, project work, research, documents, and human-agent conversations to share that operating context.
4. Salesforce Agentforce: Best for Enterprise Agent Governance
Salesforce gives agents the deepest enterprise platform in this group. Agentforce can operate against Salesforce data and automation, while Agentforce in Slack lets people interact with approved agents through channels and direct messages using existing permissions.
That depth comes with more architecture and more pricing surfaces. Salesforce currently offers Flex Credits, conversation pricing, user licenses, add-ons, and Agentforce 1 editions. A team should model the underlying CRM edition, implementation, data layer, Slack requirements, agent access, and action consumption together.
Salesforce is the safer choice for a complex organization standardizing agents across governed enterprise systems. It is usually a disproportionate starting point for a three-person team trying to connect CRM, operations, research, and a website quickly.
5. Zoho CRM With Zia: Best Value Suite
Zoho's current CRM pricing page describes AI agents in Standard, email intelligence in Professional, and the broader Zia sales assistant in Enterprise. Zoho also spans marketing, support, finance, projects, forms, scheduling, and other business applications.
That makes Zoho attractive when cost and suite breadth matter more than having the most refined interface. The catch is edition mapping: “Zia” covers a wide range of predictive, generative, analytical, and agentic functions, and they are not all available on the same plan.
Zoho is a better fit than Coherence when the team wants the wider Zoho application family or established sales-automation depth. Coherence is a better fit when flexible relationship data, source-linked research, Sites, and human-agent collaboration should feel like one compact workspace.
A Six-Question Agent Test
Ignore the demo prompt for a moment and run this evaluation:
- Context: Which records, documents, conversations, websites, and external sources can the agent inspect?
- Tools: Can it only answer, or can it create and update useful structured work?
- Evidence: Does researched output preserve sources, dates, estimates, and unknowns?
- Permissions: Does the agent inherit the user's access, use a service account, or receive a separate tool policy?
- Failure: Can a person review, reverse, and audit the result?
- Economics: Which seat, edition, credit pool, action, or add-on pays for the representative workflow?
Run one bounded task from beginning to end. “Research these accounts, preserve the evidence, update approved fields, and create a review task” reveals more than a generic request to summarize a company.
Which AI CRM Should You Choose?
Choose the operating model before the brand. HubSpot is strongest for an integrated customer platform, Attio for data-first CRM, Salesforce for governed enterprise agents, and Zoho for value across a mature suite.
Coherence is the most distinctive choice when a small team wants the agent's answer to stay connected to the website, CRM, custom records, documents, tasks, and team conversation that come before and after it. Start with the three-user Free workspace and test one complete workflow against the limits that matter.
