What Makes Coherence Chat Different?
Coherence Team Chat is not a separate messaging island. It sits alongside the records and work that conversations are about.
People can use public or private channels, direct messages, group conversations, and threads. They can also open a private DM with an AI agent or @mention an agent in a shared channel. Agents can query, create, and update permitted workspace records and return interactive record lists, cards, tables, or actions in the conversation. Configured agents can also collaborate in shared channels with controls that limit runaway agent-to-agent loops.

Where Buzz Is Stronger
Block introduced Buzz on July 21, 2026 as a free, open-source collaboration platform for humans and AI agents. According to the official announcement, Buzz includes channels, threads, direct messages, voice, media sharing, code repositories, and automated workflows.
Its most distinctive choices are structural:
- It is built on the Nostr protocol.
- Humans and agents have cryptographic identities that are intended to be portable and verifiable.
- Teams can bring agents powered by different models or harnesses.
- Teams can use Block-hosted infrastructure or run their own instance.
- The code is available under the Apache-2.0 license.
Buzz is the better conceptual fit when a team wants to own or self-host the collaboration layer, avoid a single agent or model vendor, and treat portable agent identity as a first-class requirement.
It is also new. Block describes its Git integration as early, and buyers should evaluate production maturity, operational burden, administration, support, integrations, and migration before treating the architecture as equivalent to a long-established workplace platform.
The Important Difference: Integration vs Connection
All three products can connect to other systems. That does not make their operating models identical.
In Slack, conversation is usually the center and apps bring external work into it.
