An onboarding campaign can look finished while the operating process behind it is still scattered. The emails are ready, but the audience lives in one tool, the customer owner in another, and the implementation checklist somewhere else.

That is the decision behind Brew versus Coherence Campaigns. Both offer AI help with email creation and tools for automated email delivery. The useful question is how much of the customer's journey you want the same platform to hold.

Brew is a focused choice for AI-assisted email production and lifecycle messaging. Coherence is our recommendation when campaigns should sit beside customer records, the website, tasks, projects, and documents. Here, Brew means brew.new, not Brevo.

What we compared

This is a Coherence-owned comparison based on first-party product documentation reviewed on September 21, 2026. We compared the documented workflow, sending model, and surrounding customer operations. We did not benchmark inbox placement, conversion rates, or rendering across email clients.

Brew's product overview describes brand-aware email creation, direct editing, campaign sending, integrations with other email platforms, and API and MCP access. Its automation documentation covers event-triggered flows with email, wait, and decision behavior. Brew is an email service provider, not merely a tool for generating HTML.

Coherence Campaigns organizes an initiative around its goal, emails, workflow, enrollment, and reporting. The email builder provides Chat, Layout, Design, and Quality tools. Sending uses a provider connected to the workspace.

Where Coherence changes the workflow

Consider a software onboarding program. The marketing job is to send useful lessons. The customer operations job also includes knowing the account's situation, handling implementation work, and coordinating the people responsible for it.

Coherence's advantage is the ability to organize those jobs in the same workspace. Records can hold the customer context, a project can hold implementation work, documents can explain the process, and Campaigns can deliver the educational series. This does not mean every connection happens automatically; the team chooses the fields and workflows that connect the work.

A practical starting configuration is an external event representing an eligible onboarding start. Set the matching campaign's entry method, choose a re-entry policy, add the emails, and review the series before publishing. Every enrolled recipient gets their own timeline. The enrollment guide explains the event and record options.

There is also an important distinction between an audience and an ongoing trigger. A saved audience is resolved into a campaign snapshot at launch. New people do not continually join that running campaign just because they later match the same audience filter. Use a suitable record or event entry method for an ongoing program.

When Brew is the more focused purchase

If your CRM, implementation process, and website already work well together, the missing piece may simply be better email production. In that situation, Brew deserves a close evaluation. Its documented emphasis on brand-aware creation and email-platform connections directly addresses that job.

Brew also documents agent-accessible email operations through MCP. Do not assume the same capability from Coherence's use of AI. Coherence offers AI-assisted campaign planning and email editing, but its general agents should not be described as autonomously reading or sending email.

The reason to choose Coherence is the wider operating workspace. It is not a claim that Coherence wins every specialist email requirement.

Sending, reporting, and budget differences to check

Coherence's sending configuration requires an active provider, an appropriate sender identity, and domain setup. Postmark campaigns use a Broadcast stream. Include delivery-provider charges in your budget alongside the Coherence plan and any applicable usage.

Brew's pricing page lists plans with AI-credit and email-send allowances. Compare the allowance your team would actually consume, the number of brands you operate, and how you intend to send. Review Coherence pricing with the same workload. We are not claiming a universal cost advantage.

For measurement, Coherence currently reports aggregate campaign delivery and engagement metrics. Its documentation explicitly says campaign time-series reporting and revenue attribution are not yet available. If those are decisive requirements, inspect the available campaign analytics before choosing.

Marketing suppression is workspace-wide in Coherence. An unsubscribe stops marketing email from that workspace; it is not a category-specific preference center. That matters when several teams want separate newsletters or programs.

Run a comparison that includes the follow-through

Use the same approved copy and a small test audience you control. Build a three-message welcome journey, adjust one email after drafting, and inspect how each product handles a later enrollee. Verify the intended unsubscribe behavior and the provider setup before a real launch.

Then add the operational question: where does the team manage an account that needs a person's help? Record what must be connected, copied, or configured to keep that work understandable. This is a suggested trial, not a reported benchmark.

Is Coherence Campaigns a transactional email replacement?

No. Campaigns is for coordinated marketing and lifecycle email. A “Transactional” campaign label does not bypass marketing suppression or replace infrastructure for password resets and security messages.

Can I move an existing Brew automation directly into Coherence?

This comparison does not establish a one-click importer. Inventory the emails, recipient data, consent and suppression state, trigger rules, and in-progress journeys. Rebuild and validate one workflow before moving an active program; do not restart every recipient at the beginning by accident.

If email production is the bottleneck, evaluate Brew on that job. If the campaign is one part of a fragmented customer process, explore how Coherence Campaigns fits the workspace.
