Short Answer
To find companies hiring for a specific role, define the exact title and acceptable variants, add the kind of company you want, require a current first-party job or careers page, and return the job URL with every result. Treat the opening as a research signal, not proof that the company wants to buy anything, and recheck it immediately before acting.

The Exact Research Prompt
This is the prompt used for the example review on August 12, 2026:
Find AI infrastructure companies hiring founding designers. Include company name, what the company builds, the exact job title, job URL, location, and a concise fit note. Prefer a first-party careers page or the company's applicant-tracking page. Exclude closed roles and explain borderline category matches.
The last sentence is important. Without an exclusion rule, a research tool is tempted to fill the requested list with ordinary AI applications, old listings, or roles that contain "founding" but are not actually design roles.
Example Results and Their Evidence
The following pages were visible during the August 12 verification pass. Job status changes quickly, so this is an inspectable example rather than a permanent lead list.
| Company | Public hiring evidence | Category fit | Review note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Restate | Founding Brand Designer | Direct infrastructure fit | Restate describes a durable runtime for AI agents, workflows, and backend services. The role is brand-focused rather than product-design focused, so keep only if that variant is acceptable. |
| Concourse | Founding Designer | Adjacent applied-AI fit | It builds AI agents for corporate finance. Strong role match, but it is an application company rather than general-purpose AI infrastructure. |
| Endex | Founding Designer | Adjacent applied-AI fit | It builds an AI coworker for financial workflows. Keep for a broader "AI-native software" brief; exclude from a strict infrastructure list. |
| Superpilot | Founding Designer | Adjacent applied-AI fit | The public role describes an AI agent for marketers. It matches the title and AI criteria but not a strict infrastructure definition. |
| Quest | Founding Designer | Adjacent consumer-AI fit | Strong founding-role evidence, but the product is an AI mentor. It should be excluded unless the target category is broadened. |
This result is more useful than claiming that all five companies are equivalent matches. One is a direct infrastructure fit with a role-title caveat; the other four help the researcher decide whether to broaden or preserve the original category boundary.
Why Hiring Data Is a Useful Signal
A public job post is observable evidence that a company is investing in a function. It can help answer questions such as:
- Which developer-tool companies are building their first design function?
- Which Series A companies are hiring product marketers?
- Which healthcare startups are adding security leadership?
- Which agencies are hiring specialists in a particular platform?
Public applicant-tracking systems can expose current published jobs directly. Greenhouse says its Job Board GET endpoints are publicly available, and Lever describes its Postings API as a public interface for published roles. These are useful discovery sources, but the company careers page remains the best place to confirm that a particular opening is still active.
A Five-Step Research Workflow
1. Define the Role Family
List acceptable and unacceptable title variants before searching.
For a founding designer search, acceptable variants might include:
- Founding Designer
- Founding Product Designer
- First Product Designer
- Founding Brand Designer, only when brand work is relevant
Do not silently include senior product designers or heads of design unless the brief allows those titles.
2. Define the Company Boundary
"AI infrastructure" is subjective until you turn it into a rule. A practical strict definition could be:
The company sells tools used to build, run, observe, secure, or deploy AI systems for other developers or organizations.
That definition excludes many good AI application companies, which is the point. You can always run a second, broader query.
3. Prefer First-Party Hiring Evidence
Use this evidence order:
- Company careers page
- Company-controlled Greenhouse, Lever, or Ashby page
- Investor or accelerator job board linked to the company
- General job board
- Search snippet only as a discovery clue
A copied listing can remain indexed after the original role closes. Never treat the copied page as stronger than the company's current board.
4. Record the Verification Date
Add verified on to every row. Hiring data has a short half-life. A clean list without dates looks more authoritative than it really is.
5. Separate the Signal from the Inference
The job page supports:
This company published a founding-designer opening.
It does not prove:
This company needs an agency, recruiter, contractor, or software vendor right now.
That second statement is a hypothesis to qualify, not a fact to put in the evidence column.
How to Improve a Weak Result Set
If the strict query returns only one or two direct matches, do not pad it. Change one dimension at a time:
- Broaden
AI infrastructuretoAI-native B2B software. - Accept
first designeras a title variant. - Expand the time window while requiring the role to remain open.
- Remove location constraints.
- Ask for companies that recently filled the role as a separate research project.
Each change should be visible in the prompt so the final list still has a coherent meaning.
Where Coherence Fits
The Coherence AI Lead Finder lets you describe the role, company category, location, stage, and evidence requirement in one natural-language brief. It researches current public sources and returns links for review.
Coherence does not treat a job post as guaranteed intent, promise private contact information, or autonomously send outreach. Eligible company and people results can be reviewed and organized in the workspace after you decide they genuinely fit.
