Campaign Sending and Compliance

Connect email providers, configure sender identity, and understand suppression and unsubscribe behavior

Sending configuration belongs to the Campaigns workspace. Open Campaigns → Sending to connect the provider used for campaign and timed-journey delivery.

Provider configuration is account-specific. Different Coherence workspaces can use different providers, credentials, sender identities, and verified domains.

Supported providers

ProviderRequired credentialAdditional requirement
PostmarkServer API tokenA Broadcast message stream ID
SendGridAPI keyMail Send permission
ResendAPI keyAuthorization for the selected sending domain

Postmark campaign email must use a Broadcast stream rather than a Transactional stream.

Connect a provider

  1. Open Campaigns → Sending.
  2. Click New provider.
  3. Enter a recognizable name.
  4. Select Postmark, SendGrid, or Resend.
  5. Enter the provider credential.
  6. Configure the default From address, From name, and optional Reply-to address.
  7. For Postmark, enter the Broadcast stream ID.
  8. Save the provider and keep it Active.

Credentials are stored as secrets and are not displayed again after saving. Replacing a credential requires entering the new value.

You can connect more than one provider. Each Journey step selects the provider that should deliver that email.

Sender authentication

Before sending to real recipients, configure the From domain with your provider and publish the DNS records it requires.

At minimum, review:

  • SPF — Authorizes the provider to send for the domain.
  • DKIM — Cryptographically signs outgoing messages.
  • DMARC — Defines alignment and handling policy.

Use a From address on a domain you control. Send test messages to major mailbox providers and verify authentication results before activating a large campaign.

Unsubscribe and suppression behavior

Marketing email includes unsubscribe support. When a recipient unsubscribes, the normalized email address is added to the workspace's marketing suppression list.

Suppression also records:

  • Hard bounces
  • Spam complaints
  • Manual suppressions

Suppression is checked before marketing email is handed to a provider. It is keyed by workspace and email address so it continues to apply if a CRM record is edited, merged, deleted, or imported again.

Suppression is currently workspace-wide for marketing email. A recipient who unsubscribes is opted out of marketing campaigns from that workspace, not only the campaign or campaign type that contained the link. Category-level preference management is not currently available.

Resubscribing can lift consent-based unsubscribe or manual suppression. It does not automatically clear a hard bounce or spam complaint.

Transactional versus marketing email

Classifying a campaign as Transactional is organizational metadata; it does not automatically bypass marketing suppression or turn a Campaign provider into a product-authentication mail stream.

Use true transactional email infrastructure for required account operations such as password resets, security notices, and purchase confirmations. Use Campaigns for coordinated marketing and lifecycle communication where unsubscribe and suppression controls apply.

Delivery history

Open a provider's delivery history to review work processed through that provider. Provider status can be Active, Disabled, or Error.

Disable a provider to prevent it from being selected for new work. Do not delete or rotate a provider while active deliveries depend on it without first reviewing those deliveries and the affected journeys.
