Campaigns Overview

Plan coordinated email initiatives, build timed journeys, enroll recipients, and measure results

Campaigns is the workspace for coordinated marketing and lifecycle email. A campaign represents the larger initiative: its goal, timeframe, emails, recipient journey, enrollment rules, and results.

An individual email is a message within that initiative. For example, a learning campaign may contain ten emails delivered to each recipient over several weeks.

Campaigns, emails, and sequences

These features serve different purposes:

FeatureBest for
CampaignsMarketing and lifecycle programs with shared goals, automated enrollment, timed email journeys, and campaign-level reporting
EmailsThe individual messages used by a campaign, or a standalone one-time email
SequencesPersonalized sales follow-up performed by a salesperson or another individual sender
OutreachSocial media and publishing workflows, separate from email Campaigns

Campaigns and Outreach may share delivery infrastructure behind the scenes, but their settings and user workflows remain separate.

What is in the Campaigns menu?

  • Campaigns — Create and manage the strategic initiative.
  • Emails — Design individual emails and optionally link them to a campaign.
  • Templates — Browse reusable email designs or save your own.
  • Audiences — Build static or dynamic recipient lists for broadcast emails.
  • Sending — Connect the email provider and sender identity for this workspace.

The Campaign detail page

Open a campaign to access four tabs:

  • Overview — Campaign brief, dates, budget, and headline delivery metrics.
  • Journey — The ordered emails and relative delays that form a timed drip.
  • Enrollment — How recipients enter, whether they may re-enter, and recent enrollments.
  • Performance — Sent, opened, clicked, and click-to-open metrics.
  1. Go to Campaigns → Sending and connect an email delivery provider.
  2. Create any reusable designs under Templates.
  3. Create the campaign and leave it in Planning while you configure it.
  4. Create each message under Emails and link it to the campaign.
  5. Open the campaign's Journey tab and arrange the messages and delays.
  6. Configure the Enrollment tab.
  7. Review sender identity, content, links, consent, and timing.
  8. Change the campaign to Active and enable automatic enrollment when you are ready.

A campaign must be Active before automatic enrollment or timed delivery begins. You can safely build the journey and enrollment rule while the campaign is in Planning.

Example: new-user learning campaign

A common lifecycle setup is:

  • Campaign type: Welcome / onboarding or Nurture
  • Journey: ten educational emails with relative delays
  • Entry method: the event or record creation that represents a new user
  • Re-entry policy: Once ever
  • Automatic enrollment: enabled

Each person gets an independent timeline. Someone who joins later begins with Email 1 on their own enrollment date; they do not jump into the middle of another recipient's journey.
