Tips for getting the most out of Coherence Copilot

Best Practices

Get the most out of Copilot with these tips and patterns.

Be Specific

The more context you provide, the better Copilot's response:

Good: "Show open deals over $10,000 closing this quarter"

Vague: "Show deals"

Specificity helps Copilot:

  • Filter to relevant records
  • Choose the right display format
  • Understand what "success" looks like

Use Module Names

Reference your modules explicitly:

Show my tasks
Create a new person
Go to deals

Copilot knows your workspace structure, but explicit module names help it understand faster.

Natural Timeframes

Use natural language for dates:

NaturalCopilot Understands
"today"Current date
"this week"Current Mon-Sun
"last month"Previous calendar month
"Q4"Oct-Dec of current year
"next Friday"The coming Friday
"in 3 days"3 days from today

Show vs. Navigate

Copilot prioritizes showing data in chat over navigating away. This keeps you in context.

  • Ask "Show my tasks" → Displays list in chat
  • Ask "Go to tasks" → Navigates to the module

Use "show" when you want to see data, "go to" when you want to navigate.

Reference Items by Number

After Copilot shows a list, you can reference items:

User: Show my open tasks
[List of 5 tasks appears]

User: Mark #2 as complete
User: What's the due date on #4?

This is faster than typing full record names.

Chain Your Requests

Build on previous responses:

  1. "Show overdue deals"
  2. "Which ones are over $50,000?"
  3. "Update #1 to add a note about the delay"

Each message can refine or act on the previous result.

Start Fresh When Needed

If a conversation gets confusing, click the new chat button (message icon with plus) to start fresh. This clears context and gives Copilot a clean slate.

Common Patterns

Morning Review

What should I focus on today?

Gets your overdue items, due today, and upcoming tasks in one view.

Pipeline Check

Show open deals by stage

Quick view of where deals stand.

Quick Data Entry

Create 5 follow-up tasks for the Acme project, due next week

Batch create records without clicking through forms.

Finding Records

Search for anything related to "budget review"

Full-text search across records.

Bulk Updates

Mark all tasks tagged "sprint-1" as complete

Update many records at once.

When Copilot Isn't Sure

Sometimes Copilot needs clarification:

  • Module ambiguity: "Create a record" → "Which module: tasks, deals, or people?"
  • Field options: "Set status to 'pending'" → "I see these options: 'To Do', 'In Progress', 'Done'"

Just respond with the clarification and Copilot continues.

Limitations

Copilot works best for:

  • ✅ Viewing and querying data
  • ✅ Creating individual and bulk records
  • ✅ Updating record fields
  • ✅ Navigation

Copilot currently doesn't:

  • ❌ Configure module schemas (use Module Builder)
  • ❌ Set up automations (use Automation Studio)
  • ❌ Manage user permissions (use Settings)
  • ❌ Send emails (use the Inbox)

Feedback
