Create reusable AI prompt templates for consistent content generation

Templates in Outreach are reusable AI prompt configurations that produce consistent, on-brand content. Define the structure, tone, and format once — then generate variations at scale.

Creating a Template

  1. Go to Outreach > Templates
  2. Click New Template
  3. Define the prompt structure and instructions
  4. Set the target platform (LinkedIn, X, etc.)
  5. Configure tone, length, and format preferences
  6. Save the template

Template Structure

Each template includes:

  • Prompt instructions — What the AI should generate (e.g. "Write a thought leadership post about...")
  • Platform target — Which social network the content is for
  • Tone settings — Professional, casual, inspirational, educational, etc.
  • Length guidelines — Short-form, long-form, or specific character limits
  • Knowledge base references — Which sources the AI should draw from
  • Brand profile — Which brand voice to use

Using Templates

Once created, templates appear in the content generation flow:

  1. Select a template
  2. Optionally provide a specific topic or angle
  3. AI generates content following the template's instructions
  4. Review the output in your content queue
  5. Edit, approve, and schedule

Organizing Templates

  • By pillar — Align templates to your content pillars for strategic coverage
  • By platform — Separate templates for LinkedIn vs. X vs. other channels
  • By format — Thought leadership, product updates, industry news, etc.

Best Practices

  • Start with 3-5 templates covering your core content pillars
  • Include specific instructions about what to avoid (competitor mentions, jargon, etc.)
  • Reference your knowledge base sources for factual grounding
  • Test templates by generating a few posts before using them at scale
  • Iterate on templates based on which generated content your team approves most often
