Configuring Sources
Set up monitoring sources to discover relevant conversations
Sources define where Social Listening looks for conversations. Choose the right sources to find high-quality leads without noise.
Source Types
Reddit is not currently available as a monitoring source. Reddit is not accepting the API access Coherence would need to provide reliable listening.
Twitter/X (Enterprise)
Track hashtags, keywords, and brand mentions.
Hashtags
#SaaS
#MarTech
#CRMtips
Keywords
"need a CRM"
"switching from Salesforce"
LinkedIn (Enterprise)

Hacker News (Enterprise)
Track Show HN posts, Ask HN threads, and tech discussions.

Source Settings
Filters
Configure optional filters to reduce noise:
- Minimum score - Only capture posts with a certain upvote count
- Minimum comments - Focus on posts generating discussion
- Exclude keywords - Skip posts containing certain terms
Polling Frequency
Sources are checked every 5 minutes by default. High-priority sources can be checked more frequently.
Best Practices
Start Specific
Broad sources create noise. Use a focused phrase such as "CRM for agencies" or "switching from Salesforce" instead of a generic term such as business.
Use Intent Keywords
Include phrases that indicate buying intent:
"recommendations for"
"looking for"
"best tool for"
"anyone use"
"switching from"
"alternative to"
Combine Sources and Keywords
When multiple connected sources are available, use the same focused intent phrase across them and compare which source produces useful results.
Monitor Competitors
Search for competitor mentions to find dissatisfied users:
"Salesforce alternative"
"tired of HubSpot"
"leaving Pipedrive"
Source Limits
| Plan | Maximum Sources |
|---|---|
| Foundation | 3 |
