Creating and Managing Campaigns

Define campaign goals, types, dates, budgets, statuses, and reporting context

A campaign is the top-level business initiative that groups related emails around a goal and timeframe.

Create a campaign

  1. Open Campaigns → Campaigns.
  2. Click New campaign.
  3. Enter a descriptive internal name.
  4. Choose the campaign type and status.
  5. Add dates, budget, currency, goal, and description as needed.
  6. Click Create campaign.

Campaign fields

FieldPurpose
NameThe internal name shown in the Campaigns list
Campaign typeClassifies the initiative for filtering and reporting
StatusControls whether enrollment and timed delivery may run
Start and end datesPlanning boundaries for the initiative
Budget and currencyOptional financial planning context

Campaign dates are planning information. Journey messages use the relative delays configured in the Journey tab; setting a start date does not schedule those messages by itself.

Campaign types

Choose the type that best describes the business purpose:

  • Welcome / onboarding — Introduce new customers or users.
  • Promotional — Promote an offer, discount, or sale.
  • Transactional — Communicate about a requested action or account event.
  • Re-engagement — Reconnect with inactive recipients.
  • Newsletter — Send recurring news or editorial updates.
  • Product launch — Coordinate launch education and promotion.
  • Nurture — Educate or qualify recipients over time.
  • Event — Promote and follow up on an event.
  • Retention / loyalty — Support adoption, renewal, or customer loyalty.
  • Other — Use when none of the standard categories fit.

The type is organizational metadata. It does not override consent requirements or automatically choose an audience, enrollment rule, or sending schedule.

Campaign statuses

StatusUse it when
PlanningYou are still creating emails, the journey, or enrollment rules
ActiveThe campaign may enroll recipients and send due journey messages
PausedYou want to temporarily stop new automatic activity without deleting the configuration
CompletedThe initiative has finished
CancelledThe initiative should no longer run

When a paused campaign becomes Active again, eligible enrollment events can be processed and overdue journey work may become due. Review the Journey and Enrollment tabs before reactivating a long-paused campaign.

Find and manage campaigns

The Campaigns page includes a standard left filter panel:

  • Filter by Campaign type.
  • Filter by Status.
  • Search by campaign name, type, status, or goal.

Open a row to view the campaign. Row actions also let you edit its planning fields, jump directly to Journey or Enrollment, or archive it.

Archiving removes the campaign from the active list without treating it as a normal campaign status. Archive campaigns only when they should no longer be part of day-to-day work.

Use the detail tabs

  • Use Overview to confirm the brief and headline metrics.
  • Use Journey to create the timed sequence of linked emails.
  • Use Enrollment to control who enters and when.
  • Use Performance to review delivery and engagement totals.
